The Quick and the Dead

....Or if you like,...Shayla and her Dad in the morning. Is it legal for a human being to have so much energy First thing in the morning? I don't think so. I think I'm going to talk to the Authorities on this one.
It's not just that it's Severely unfair, but rather more that it turns out to be a major occupational hazard. Obstacles knowingly or unknowingly thrown in my path once all my pistons are firing in cooperation is fair, but this erratic, mayhemic tossing of toys and running every which way in the early morning with the combined difference in energy levels reminds me of Inspector Clouseau and Kato. Only our 'play' is in the morning instead of at night (Although she gets crazy then too, but at that point I'm ready for it. I've had all day to prepare.)
Maybe I should just sleep in my helmet and knee pads, this way I will not have to remember to put them on before opening my door and walking down the hall towards the coffeemaker.
"What doesn't kill you will make you stronger", they say, but the part that 'they' convieniently leave off is that there is a good chance you could be disabled in the process. Mental disability too. Hah, I bet you were not thinking of that kind, were you? ...Now you're gettin' the picture. I've even come up with a good acronym for the condition. (I'm getting ready for my Government Checks. Haha.) It's called: PPPT (Post Process Parental Trauma)
All those with little munchkins are smiling from ear to ear right about now. Hey you all, wouldn't it be satisfying to recieve a Government check to alay a little of the pain of the PPPT? I think so. ....It's fun to fantasize at any rate.

TV to the Rescue....

We've all said many evil things about television from time to time and rightly so, because as with anything abused the flaws or detriment to the human spirit gets bourne out.
Having said that.....Let me now give thanks to the 'boob tube' for filling the insatiable attention, if even only for little slices of time (better that way), of my little wonderous, fickle, energetic, sweet, onery she devil called my daughter.
The one eyed monster gives her parents brief moments of respite to the continuous, and constant demands of The World Explorer that is our daughter.
Television programs in the right places and at the right times are Blessings Indeed. Amen.

Danger as a Habit...

Since my little one doesn't really understand gravity as of yet, she is truly a danger to herself and those in her immediate vicinity. I say this with a smile on my face....
She is strong enough to wield things that are bigger than her, but her dexterity and smarts have not yet caught up with her strength. This is a day to day problem as she is constantly 'man handling'(pardon the phrase) her little world.
So in my caring for her---protecting her from herself---I am also looking out for my own wellbeing. We were taking a walk the other day when she found a really nice long(3-4ft.)tree branch which she was really determined to drag/carry around behind her. I tried to dissuade her from this, but she was not to be deterred. Finally, I said okay, which I later ammended via my Executive Parental Order after she almost took out my eyeball with it. These things apparently never stop with a 2yr. old. You are never safe no matter how tired or exasperated you become, and furthermore those states are an impediment to your awareness to boot.
So without being a Nazi, I smile and attempt to be 'en guarde' to protect my child from herself as well as myself, and yet allow her to be the Free Two Year Old Explorer that she Is. I say this as I put on my knee pads and helmet and venture out into the common living space of our home.. Say,...when does her next developmental stage begin??

Shayla and Lani's Visit at Red Bud Isle

Shayla and I had fun today with Lani and Katie Jo at Red Bud Isle--walking trails off Lake Austin @ Red Bud. A good time was had by all. Christina wanted to go, but had more pressing tasks to accomplish.
It was good that Shayla got to spend time with a friend her own age.
Thanks Katie Jo and Lani! We had fun!!
